Fibroblast Growth Factor 8 (FGF-8) is a critical factor in embryonic development of the brain structure and also required for normal development of the eye, ear and limbs. FGF-8 has broad functions that involve proliferation, differentiation and cell migration. Inappropriate expression of FGF-8 is linked to increased tumor growth and angiogenesis. There is 100% homology between human and mouse FGF-8. FGF-8 is a non-glycosylated protein containing 194 amino acids, with a total molecular weight of 22.5 kDa.
